«Lucrecia Martel was born in 1966 in Salta, Argentina. Filmmaker. She debuted her first feature film, La Ciénaga, in 2001, followed by La niña santa in 2004 and La mujer sin cabeza in 2008. Her fourth film, Zama (2017), an exploration of colonialism and racism in Latin America, premiered at the 74th Venice International Film Festival in 2017.
Retrospectives of her work have been screened at art and cultural institutions such as Harvard, MoMA, Lincoln Center, Cambridge, and the Tate Museum in London, along with masterclasses on sound and narrative that the filmmaker has conducted around the world.
His latest works include the installation El pasaje (2021 – EYE Filmmuseum Amsterdam), the musical unitary Termila Norte (2021), filmed in the province of Salta with Julieta Laso as the protagonist, and the short film Camarera de piso (2022), which had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival.
In 2023, he received honorary doctorates from the University of Buenos Aires, the National University of Salta in Argentina, and KU Leuven University in Belgium.»
