Lia Letícia conceives her work from a broader field of art, exploring the tension between artistic practices and their supposed autonomy. The construction and conflicts arising from this reflection engender her works. A visual artist, she explores painting in various media, including audiovisual. As co-director, she created the series BRASIL VISUAL and the feature film NÃO SOU OBJETO DE RECORDAÇÃO (I Am Not an Object of Remembrance). Her most recent work, MAR DE DENTRO (Sea Within), won Best Short Film and Best Director at the Brasília Film Festival, as well as the Zózimo Bulbul Award for Best Short Film. She is part of the curatorial consultancy for the upcoming exhibition at the Museu da Abolição/PE (Museum of Abolition/PE), and recently held the solo exhibition TUDO DÁ (Everything Works) at MAMAM-PE. She participates in Negritude do Audiovisual (Blackness of Audiovisual) and APAN (Brazilian Association of Art and Culture).
Pedro Severien is a film director, professor, curator, and activist from Pernambuco. He directed award-winning films such as Canção para minha irmã (Song for My Sister) and Loja de Répteis (Reptile Shop), which were screened at national and international festivals. His first feature film, All the Colors of the Night (2015), premiered at Slamdance and won an award at the Vitória Film Festival. Weekend in Wild Paradise (2022) received over twenty awards. He holds a Master’s degree in Film and TV Production from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Communication from UFPE. Severien is the author of the books When the Artificial Lights Go Out and Recife Occupation Cinema. His work reflects on cinema and territory, with an emphasis on the relationship between aesthetics and politics. He works as a professor at Unicap, in the specialization in Contemporary Image Narratives, and as a curator and programmer at Cinema São Luiz.
